Malcolm Debono is a cinematographer / DP based in Malta, Europe. Malcolm discovered photography early in life, and having a father who’s also a photographer meant that he grew up surrounded with cameras, lenses, films and all sorts of darkroom equipment. He is a graduate of University of Malta where he majored in B. Communications (Hons.) with Computer Information Systems.

Malcolm has a strong body of work in wedding cinematography. He considers this area to be a very special form of filmmaking since it’s all about capturing unique moments in a couple’s love story whilst everything unfolds in real-time. Slowly but steadily, Malcolm transitioned into commercials and music videos and has already worked with some of the leading and upcoming brands & talent. Regardless of the type of project, Malcolm’s goal is that of creating pictures that not only support the story but also tell it to the audience in the most powerful way possible.

Through an initiative between Malta Film Commission and Film London Microwave, Malcolm had the opportunity to photograph his first feature film called ’20,000 Reasons’ which hit local cinemas in February 2016.
